Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the added 0.22%, while the index gained 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the were Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:), which rose 3.48% or 81.65 points to trade at 2,429.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Coal India Ltd (NS:) added 3.04% or 6.50 points to end at 220.15 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS:) was up 2.70% or 105.05 points to 3,989.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS:), which fell 4.12% or 14.20 points to trade at 330.10 at the close. Adani Enterprises Ltd (NS:) declined 1.97% or 34.45 points to end at 1,716.00 and Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd. (NS:) was down 1.88% or 80.90 points to 4,230.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which rose 2.65% to 8,512.00, Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was up 1.74% to settle at 5,713.00 and Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.56% to close at 760.70.
The worst performers were ITC Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.17% to 378.95 in late trade, Infosys Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.17% to settle at 1,410.95 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which was down 0.89% to 2,536.00 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1570 to 389 and 41 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2676 rose and 823 declined, while 128 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 2.71% to 12.59.
Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.10% or 1.90 to $1,988.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 5.41% or 4.09 to hit $79.76 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 5.18% or 4.14 to trade at $84.03 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.15% to 82.31, while EUR/INR rose 0.43% to 89.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 102.15.
